Varto Gıyasettin Bingöl Vocational School hosted an important academic event on November 27, 2024 and held a panel titled "Varto in the Republican Era". In the panel, comprehensive evaluations of the social, cultural and administrative developments of the district in the early Republican period were presented.

Prof. Dr. Yuca made important evaluations, emphasizing the effects of the reforms and changes carried out during this period on the social transformation of the region.
In her speech titled "Varto and External Migration: Social Change, Cultural Identity and Belonging", Lecturer Zeynep Zelal Kızılkaya explained how individuals who migrated from Varto to big cities and abroad since the 20th century reshaped their social identities. Emphasizing the effects of migration processes on cultural belonging, Kızılkaya drew attention to the consequences of this transformation in local and national contexts.
